Like kitchens, many people spend a significant amount of time on their decks too. Besides the foot traffic decks get, weather like snow, sleet, freezing temperatures, the sun, rainfall, hailstorms, and debris can cause severe damage to your deck. You can better preserve the decks of your house by professionally staining and sealing them.

Staining or painting your porch or patio is an important maintenance project that can also significantly improve your outdoor living space. Regardless of whether your goal is practical or aesthetic, painting, staining, or sealing your deck is an important step in maintaining its structural strength. You should always re-apply paint or stains to keep them looking good. Usually, they need to be applied every two to five years.

Both types of finishes offer some level of protective properties, but the frequency of re-coatings differs between them. You should choose your paints and stains according to your personal taste as well as the condition and type of wood your deck is made out of, its usage and climate conditions.

A skilled Atlanta deck staining contractor can help you decide which finish is right for you. Spectrum Fence will take the necessary steps to prepare the surface for your deck and then use finishing materials to protect it from damage.

It depends on various factors, such as extreme temperatures and heavy foot traffic. For example, if the surface wasn't properly prepared before applying the stain, then the stain might peel off after one year. However, if the surface was properly prepared, then the stain would likely last for several years.

A transparent stain will usually last for two to three years before needing another application. Semi-solid and solid color stains can usually be expected to hold up for at least five years before fading begins.
